This may sound like a stupid question but hey, thats what we are here for, to ask questions. When i bought my 95 xp the previous owner was using tc-w3 outboard engine oil ( eeek! bad i know ) and the resovoir still has about, half a tank of it in there, as im still running the stock oil injection system. Should i siphon it the hell outta there? ive read the oil sticky, and know i should be running the syn recommended by seadoo. or should i just run it down then switch over? will the Synthetic i put in after the TC-W3 cause a chemical reaction and screw up my 717cc internals? ive read alot about that, mixing synth and minerals, i dont wanna screw anything up.

Thanks in advance for giving me some advice.

I would drain it, and the lines. Unfortunatly... your engine still has a pint or so in the center section where the rotary valve gears are... and that's going to pump back into the tank.

If you really want to get out as much as possible... I would also remove the oil line that is hooked the the crank case, under the rotary valve. This will allow the engine to drain the bulk of the oil out.

If you do this, and let the lines sit open for a while (over night)... you should be clean enough to put in your favorite SeaDoo approved oil. Just make sure to purge the oil injection pump, and change the filter while you are there.

Last thing. I would also run one tank of fuel with some oil in it to take care of any weird mixing, and air bubble issues. (like when breaking in a new engine)

Thanks alot for the reply, that was the news i was expecting hahah.

How do you purge the oil injection pump? how long should i do it for?
purging will get rid of oil bubbles in the system right?
I will make sure to pour some in my tank after i make the switch.

I'll have to get on this before my first spring ride, looking forward too it. Play off season is coming, hope your a Penguins fan doc :hurray:
again thanks, i appreciate it.

if you have the service manual... it is outlined in that... but....

Make sure there is enough oil in the tank to fill the empty lines. Then open the bled screw on the pump to let the oil flow down to the pump. Then, start the engine, and hold the pump arm open while it's idling. It's going to smoke a lot. watch for the bubble to push up injection lines. This will also purge out the old oil from the pump.

Good luck
