For some background, I had some repairs on my boat requiring 2 new ECMs. Shortly after getting the boat back, and a few issues afterwards, I noticed that the hours on both my engines would not register the proper hours. This occurs when I finish up at the lake and putting the boat on the trailer, I turn the engines off and disconnect the battery form the main cut-off switch.
After talking to Sea-Doo about this, they had a product specialist inform me that if there if power to the boat is lost within ~30 second window after turning off the engine, the hours that it just counted would be erased (like 4-6 hrs driven all day gone). Neither I or they seem to find any documentation whatsoever mentioning that, but hey, my boat will always have low miles!
Not sure if this a widespread design flaw or I am having the only one having issues with my new ECMs, but according to Sea-Doo, it's apparently part of the design and apparently effects all the 2012 Sea-Doo Challengers 210s, possibly more, not sure, but I felt everyone else should benefit from this critical information and not got stuck in a situation where you don't know how many actual hours are put on engines to do supercharger builds.
