I wanted to take my ski out today and had a fully charged battery, put the key on the post and nothing.... No beep,s no gauges lighting up, nothing. Checked all of my fuses, they were fine. When I hit the start button with out the key on nothing happens, I don't get the 30 seconds. I had water in the hull last trip out due to part of the nozzle coming apart, non of the water got in the motor it filled the hull all the way up to right under the carbs. Please tell me its not my MPEM:confused:

Corrosion is not my friend

Drain the eater out now, and clean all the electrical connections.

When dealing with ignition problems, the following
items should be verified in this order.

t. Spark occurence/ spark plug condition.
2. Battery condition,
3. Electrical connections.
4. Engine start I stop switch
5. Safety lanyard switch.
6. Timer delay.
7. Multi-purpose electronic module (MPEM).
8. Magneto output.
9. ignition coil output.
10. Harness wire continuity

Your Service manual & grease are your best ski buddies.

Make sure you hooked up the small black wire coming out of the coil box to the negative side of the battery, and the magneto plug is plugged in.

You should be hearing two short beeps when you install the security coded lanyard onto the lanyard post, telling you the ignition is armed.

Hope this helps. Bills86e

This helps to a certain extent, but im still getting nothing. How do I check if the MPEM is working or not?

You probly has a bad ground some where. You should start a process of elimination.
An ohmeter can tell you if the wire has current, but not its ability to carry amps. I will share a secret. I use a 12v headlight and two wires. Bill

try that with one on your engine block, the other put it on the POS of battery, or
the starters solenoid lug.

Can the MPEM be bad even though I am not blowing any fuses? I am just a little baffled because even after I had water in the hull the ski still started up up fine when I got it home to make sure their was no water in the motor, which there was not.
