Hi all,

Just barely winged my gsx off premix after letting the oil system get primed up with new lines, etc. I had to rebuild this thing from the previous owner mixing oils and (I assume). One of the cylinders got dried up enough to do some damage.

Anyway, the injection system seems to work and oil is running through the lines, especially when I hold the oil pump wide open. However, after sitting for a bit, it seems to get a few air bubbles in the injection lines which appear to go away after starting it and letting them pump through.

Should I be worried?

If you serviced the oil system (new filters, new hoses, etc) and you verified the system is pumping the proper amount of oil... then I wouldn't be. I run the oil injection on all my toys. It works fine as long as you service it once in a while.

Let's face it... most people who show up here and say "My engine died because the oil injection failed" should actually be saying... "I'm an idiot, and my engine died because the oil system was never serviced on my 15 year old SeaDoo."

We get a lot of people like you who are worried. And like I said... if you know it's working... it's not an issue. (assuming you cleaned what caused the original problem)

Thanks Doc, as far as I can tell it was mixing oils that caused the issue. The pump seems fine, The bubbles actually help me tell how well the oil pump is pushing oil through each line when they are working their way out.

Good point on the injection system, it's like saying your car is a piece of crap when it finally starts blowing blue smoke from never having the oil changed or being maintained. These things are quite a bit of fun, but definitely need some tlc. I think I am catching up on 15 years of poor care and/or lack of maintenance. Unfortunately, it cost me an engine on my gsx. Hopefully this can serve as another example to not mix oils and keep the oil system properly maintained.
