Newly acquired 97 XP

Recently picked up a 97 XP and don’t know much of anything about them...at first I wasn’t getting anything when putting the key on...after checking and replacing fuses and cleaning ground wire connections etc when I connect the key the VTS gauge comes on and operates for 30 seconds or so and I can start it, no beep and no fuel gauge action....so to my understanding it’s normal for the VTS to only operate for given time without the engine on? And does it sound like I just have a beeper and fuel gauge problem

Usually,,,the mpem times out after 33 seconds,

get a manual for it,,,,,sounds normal but if you never had one read up on the dos and don'ts....like don't run it out of the water very long or you will mess up the carbon ring.

thats normal, mine shuts off on it's own after about a minute, I guess they are all a little different.
