Well, I just got my first boat and its a 1997 Challenger. I picked it up for $2100 in working condition! So far I spent countless hours cleaning it and replaced the seat covers and love it! I have a few newbie questions below that I have been unable to get answers for yet.

1. What can I use to clean the engine bay? There is a lot of grease/oil/etc that I would like to clean up a bit?
2. I am getting some water on the deck when at rest but as soon as I drive it goes out the drain. Is that normal?
3. I had the engine checked out and they said it was ok but it seems to be really loud. Is there any thing I can do to quiet it up?
4. Are there any other rules/regulations or tips that anyone has for a new boat owner? I don't want to go out and piss people off :).

Thanks!

Don

Welcome to the seadoo forum. You really need to add your seadoo year and model to you avatar for future problems or questions.

1) Use degreaser to remove the engine hull grease. "Purple Stuff" , by 3m works good for me.
2) There shouldn't be any water getting in the hull of the boat check for cooling leaks or leaks around the jet pump shaft.
3)2 strokes aren't the quietest engines around, be sure the exhaust isn't leaking exhaust or allowing cooling water to enter you boat.
4)Take a boating safety course. Most boating rules are laws you need to follow like driving a car. You can get a ticket if you don't know or follow the rules. You won't just upset people, they will take your registration number and report you, and you'll end up paying a fine. You can get a ticket for not having the proper safety gear on board too.
