hello all. I am 24 and just bought my first boat. A 1995 Seadoo Speedster. been sitting for 3 years. needs some work. I dropped it of to a local marine mechanic to be looked over and diagnosed. paid $600 good deal?

I think I looked at that boat last year, I passed because the guy didn't have a clear title. I think it was in Morehead, KY.

This one has been in Arkansas for a while. The flat dry rotted tires tell that story. And the title is clear.

Here's a picture of the one I looked at, you gotta admit pretty close.

It sounds like you got a good deal, a couple of questions, does it run, will the motor turn over, and if it does what's the compression? You do know that as with any watercraft these things can get pretty expensive.

The seller agreed to let me have it checked out before I pay. I know it turns over and the fiberglass is in good shape(nothing a buffer can't fix. The guy I took it to told me if I didn't want it, he would take it. I take that as a good sign.

Finally got the boat home after a few weeks of setting at the shop

Those chips in the hull don't look bad, just chipped gelcoat. The fiberglass still looks to be in good condition. Get a pint of gelcoat repair from overtons or elsewhere for about $20 and you can easily repair everything.

Hopefully the mechanicals checked out, and after a little cleanup you will be ready to hit the water. Congratulations on the new boat!

all clean
