Owned several Doo's over the years, all somebody's cast asides. Recently purchased my first 4'Tec, a 2005 RTX, 230 hours. It's had oil changes, but the gentleman who bought it new had no idea of SC rebuilds, or nose cone service, so it's living on borrowed time, I guess. Gonna gamble a bit and continue riding the next 2-3 months, then put in a corner of my auto repair shop and do some catching up. The old biach does run like a haint though!!
The previous owner was approx my current age (63) when he bought it new, so I'm the second owner at an investment of $3,500 including trailer. Evidently it's spent a lot of time exposed to the sun as seat material is bleached/crackled and one hole. So seat recover will be on the winter list also.

I'll be keeping on an out-of-water lift in a beautiful clearwater lake, but this past weekend the lift chains broke and it ended up in the water for 18 or so hours and took on quite a lot of water! (accessory bilge pump is also on the list). Most likely points of entry? Steering fins? Shaft seal?

Thanks for reading, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Bob

Previous owner was a customer's family member, so we were well known to each other. He was quite graceful in allowing me the entire 4th of July week for a water test. :thumbs-up:
