Hey, got my newly acquired GTX RFI / SBT short block running with help from this forum. Works nicely with the hose plugged in the back and the carbon ring lubed somewhat, but I never reved it up too high. My question is: what should I watch out for on MY maiden voyage?
I'm new to jetskis - just rented them before, never cared about whether I abused them - but now that I am an owner, what do I watch out for? I know there are a lot of sensors that will shut down the motor if it gets too hot, but there might be some stuff to watch out for BEFORE the engine gets to the point where the sensors shut it down.
-Warm water out the back - check
-No bad vibrations - check
-A little smoke - means that oil IS being injected. Actually how do I tell if I primed the oil injector pump properly
I guess I'm concerned that as I get more and more comfortable with it, that it's going to leave me stranded out in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway...
Is there a break-in procedure, like change the oil after the first 3000 miles (I've owned cars before)? Like keep the rpm's under 10,000 for the first 180 minutes....
Any advice to a first time jetski owner is appreciated.
JB.
