Okay, got the ski back from the shop. They put in a new wear ring and impeller. I took it out (second time since I've owned it) and it ran great. About 3 hours later, my wife took it out and came in and I went out on it. It wouldn't go more than 45 mph and was seeming to be sinking. I knew something wasn't right so I turned it towards shore. That is when it died. I had to be towed in.

My question is would the flooding have anything to do with the repairs? My neighbor noticed a washer not on one of the bolts in the back of the ski. Could it have flooded due to putting a wear ring and impeller on and just not checking to make sure everything was tight?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

well, did it flood, or fill up with water??? you could have gotten water in the carbs,or if you just had your pump rebuilt they could have put it togather wrong causing it to lock up, does it turn over?

No carbs. Oh yeah it filled up with water thats why it was sinking. Both drain plugs were in place and screwed in tight. After the water was kicked out, it started up fine. Pretty crazy how it could be just flooded with water and start back up.

Still makes me mad tho. Don't understand how it could have flooded that badly. Thanks for the reply.

Gotta figure out where the water is coming from. You got 2 options:

1. Fill the hull with water to where the driveshaft comes through the hull. Look underneath the hull for any water coming out.

2. Hook it up to the hose and pull the seat, and start the engine with the water on. Look inside the engine compartment at your exhaust pipe. Look at all the connections/gaskets down to the water box.

GSXGTXMAN,

That is good advice. After one more beer I am going to hook it up to the hose and do that. I'll be on here later and give details.

Water

When replacing the pump there are three penetrations where water could enter the ski.

You might want to check these out to see if a sealer was used. The water outlet tube, from the right side of the head, and two penetrations for the siphon pumps. You also could check to see if the hoses are hooked up correctly.

Speedo Tube

I forgot, there is another penetration, the tube for the speedometer.
