Hello all, I just bought 2 new 2014 Sea Doo's. One is a GTI and the other is the GTX I think. both are the 130 but one has the reverse and break the other does not. Anyways im new to jet ski I've always had quads and dirt bikes so I have a few newbie questions.

First my salesman screwed me but I guess its my fault for not checking up on what he told me, however he did tell me I needed to do a 10 hour service? When I called to schedule it, I only have 4 or5 hours on the ski's, I was told the fist service wasn't required until 50 hour mark?

Secondly, he told me I could ride the ski the first 10 hours normally but just to not to "run full throttle for more than 10 seconds at a time until its broken in. I met a guy on the lake who told me that is not true and I should keep it half to three quarters until the break in period is over. so did I void my warranty by not keeping it under the 3/4 mark? Its not having any issues and runs fine, just worried I may have done something wrong.

Also is there anything I should do or mods that must be done to take care of these that is not obvious to a new person. I like to work on my own stuff and would like to at least change the oils and filters but not sure if that's going to affect the warranty.

Lastly where is the best place to buy accessories, im looking for depth finder and the small steep up bar that goes above the jet. I didn't think paying 230.00 at the dealer was worth it!!

Thanks and any input would be greatly appreciated.

First of all don't believe what any salesman tells you. Read your manual It's all spelled out in black and white about breakin period.
Depending on how you use your ski you might want to look into something like a Lowrance Elite 4 for navigation and depth readings for same price as what SeaDoo charges for basic depthfinder readout. I do alot of cruising and NA waterway charts are very useful.

Someone posted on another thread that the 10 hour service was just an oil change but for a hefty price. It's basically a dealer trying to make as much as possible off you. The break-in period is real, laid out pretty clearly in the manual. I don't know much about maintenance but as an experienced rider the biggest piece of advice I can give you is just to make sure you know who you're letting ride, if anyone but yourself is riding of course. I've seen some inexperienced riders do some really dumb things that luckily didn't lead to injury. The smallest accidents (hitting rocks, debris, etc) can cause major damage so just know where you're riding. Someone in the other thread posted the damage to his ski from a minor crash at 15 MPH (according to him) and the thing might be totaled.

Not trying to scare you or anything lol... all will be fine if you're just cautious until you're used to everything. I don't know if this was the advice you're looking for, but that's just my two cents as an experienced rider. I'm sure the mods and others here will be able to assist with mechanical/technical stuff if that's what you're looking for.

If you're new to PWC's and especially if you're new to boating I would encourage you to take a boating safety course, some states require it and you get a 10-20% reduction on your boater's insurance. The course here is given by the Coast Guard Auxiliary, but I'm not sure about FL. Online courses are available personally I like to take it in a classroom, it takes about 3-4 hours and is usually free.

I purchased a 2015 GTS 130 and I'm new to this forum so bare with me please. I took it on the water the day I bought it and I only put two hours on it. Within that time, I launched it, let it run at idle for 5-10 mins then proceeded to open water and started using more throttle. I went from high to low rpms the whole time and after about an hour or so I finally took it WOT and then let off after 5-10 seconds. I did this a lot but mainly hung around 35-40mph all day long. The dealer told me I could run WOT as long as I didn't hold it for a long time. Long story short, I'm just wondering if I am breaking it in or properly. Or should I slow down a bit? I shut it off quite a bit and took short breaks too. And let 3 different people ride with me for a short time. Any helpful tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
