The mechanic says he is almost done with my boat (finally), though I havent picked it up yet.

He stated I need a new impeller, what do you guys think? Where can I get a new impeller for my boat, also can I use other years Impellers and can I install it myself.

This boating this is getting expensive!

Ship it to SBT. They send you refurbed one and then refurb yours and resell it....all for $25.

x2 on sbt. that's what I did..
I think you need a impeller removal tool.
But yes its a diy.
look for wear ring replacement in the diy section. It will show you how :)

cheap, is the "mechanic" gonna say, you need a new wear ring as well.... Guys' rip'n you off, bud.

Seadooya, thanks man.. but what can I do? he had the engine apart, I was fd if I did, and I was fd if I didnt...

So Im hoping everything works right, I have a 1 year warranty from his shop, so I think I treat people right and Im paying him very well, so hopefully Im happy and everybody is happy.

The joke was that I never got to do what I initially wanted to do with the boat. I wanted to take it to our yearly Piru camp out! It never happened.

I gave it to him at the end of May, and Im getting it back at the end of August.. Luckily for me it feels like summer finally got here, its been the hottest yesterday and today here in Southern California, but yes it sucks I didnt have it for the summer.

The gentleman sounds like a businessman, I'm a businessman too, everybody is out to make money, so am I.. So hopefully everything is cool!

Hey Thrifty (cheap) Dude:

My sorry butt dismantled my engine, jet pump, carbs and replaced my crankshaft at the beginning of summer. Six weekends later, at a cost of less than $400, all is back together. The good thing, no DH dealer got his hands on my hard earned moola.

If you can, do it yourself. I am living proof that anyone can work on a SD?

LOL! Thats funny ok you guys are right, next time Ill dabble into it myself next time...

I for sure will do my own impeller removal and installation.....

Cheap Dude, You can purchase the toll to pull the impeller fro ma guy in Perris. (Perris, CA not Paris, France)

He sells them for $15, postage included. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and got the job done lickity split.

If you ever get down here, you can use mine.

Thrifty Dude

I was wondering this my self. If I snap a picture of my impeller could some one let me know if I should have it re done? Stones here in Canada's north are hell on them.

Cheers Don.

Usually, if you think its bad enough to ask here, it needs it. Post up a pic though. For the cheap $25 and how easy it is, it wouldnt hurt to just swap out in the off season.

Here is the impeller. I was told a few times as long as the material is not gone but just moved on a stainless prop it is good still.
