Just wanted to reach out to the other fellow members and introduce myself.

My name is Shawn , I moved to Florida 2 years ago and ever since I have arrived i wanted a boat badly.

I decided to sell my 300zx twin turbo and buy a boat. I decided on a 2003 seadoo challenger 2000. I thought I was getting a steal on the boat (4k) knowing the boat had sat for approx. 2 yrs. I found a mechanic to come to my house /clean and tune the boat. He got it running (1k later). I ran approx. 15 gallons of gas/chemicals through the tank sitting in my driveway. The engine fired up on the first turn and sounded great.

Last week , I took the boat out with a friend and the boat at first didn't seem like it was going fast as it should. After 30 min. it opened up ,sounded good and seemed to be getting better as we went. We drove the boat for about 2 hours total.

Feeling comfortable that the boat was going to run fine now, I decided to take the wife and kids on the boat yesterday 2-08-15.

I filled the tank with regular fuel as instructed by the mechanic. After 5 minuets on the water the boat just fell flat on its face , i do not recall hearing any sputtering or anything. Tried for the next hour to get it started with no luck. SeaTow call was made.

Now I am looking for a reputable Merc mechanic in my are that is honest and has decent rates. I believe the engine needs completely cleaned along with the injectors cleaned. But I am not a mechanic and I am not very handy when it comes to engines. Any good feed back on mechanics in the lake county or Orlando are would be appreciated.

Thank you !!!

The Merc engine is a different kind of animal compared to traditional Seadoo engines. Many shops won't work on them as they just don't understand them. Welch to the site, hopefully someone can steer you to a good mechanic.

Welcome neighbor . There was a mechanic shop in Kissimmee but i passed by yesterday morning in hopes of getting some info and they had moved but there were no one around to ask were they moved to. If you want to i can give you the number you can see if anyone answers, but living in Eustis i think you are better off going to SBT in clearwater??

Thanks Alex for the greeting. I am still about 2 + hours from Clearwater. I am only 40 min north of Orlando. If you have never been to lake county with your boat , you should check it out. it is very interesting on how all the lakes connect. I am new to boating and obviously have not ventured far as of yet, but I hope to explore all the lakes and local areas in my area as there appears to be alot to explore. Thanks for your help.

Shawn
