I own a 1998 XP Limited that has run flawless from 97 to present. Its a freshwater ski that got alot of hours clocked on her when I was younger and recently only sees occasional weekend recreational use for me and my twin 6 year old boys.
The problem that has just shown its hand is a top speed bog or loss of power in a surging manner. The ski was winterized properly and never had the trouble last season. It has fresh gas and I have checked and cleaned the fuel filter. The water spout is spraying water out the driver side front hull and I have monitored the oil consumption. The first 10 - 15 minutes of riding are fine, no signs of any problems. There after she wont pull past 45 mph and surges at full throttle. She is fine at part throttle or just cruising at 40 mph.
I will also say that I did find a mouse nest inside the engine compartment which I vacuumed up. I have double and triple checked all houses and wires for chew marks. The issue that baffles me is that it runs fine for when its cold.
Any suggestions would be great and much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Wes
