Hi guys i'm new to the sea-doo game. I got a 1994 sea-doo xp 787, Green, from my mother in-law for free. She brought it and never put it in the water. I believe it has low hours. It looks brand new. I got it started the other day after I took the carbs apart and the diaphrams were dry. oiled them up with bp blaster and it fired right up and idle at 3000 like a dream I had a couple questions about the bike. And big problems with these bikes I should address before I take it out. And how about switch to pre-mix gas. I been reading about it and some say YES and some NO. The other day I removed the cable to the oil pump and have been running pre-mix the hole time. Thanks New Guy Chris.

The '94 XP had a 657X motor. I would concern about new oil injection lines and new fuel lines. (the failure of either can ruin the engine).
BRFORE YOU RIDE IT!

Regardless of hours....... It's a 16 year old ski. the fuel lines and oil lines are going to need replacing.

Did you disconnect the oil hose from the oil injection pump? Or, did you just take off the cable? SeaDoo's oil injection is VERY reliable, and we recommend keeping it. If you are already convinced that you want to go pre-mix... then you need to remove the pump, (It will seize up if you try to run it dry) and cap off all the ports on the engine, and oil tank. BUT, you need to leave the oil tank in the hull, and hooked to the center section of the engine. The oil in that tank, keeps the rotary valve gears lubed.

Since you are new... A sedoo engine needs a API-TC oil. Do not use a TC-w3 (outboard engine) oil. It will not live very long.

Finally, in 94... the 800 engine (787) engine didn't exist. If it's a green 94 XP... it has a 657 engine. (80 hp)

Please give us a little more info on what you have done, because I would hate to see you kill a nice, low hour ski. From your first post... there are a few things that make me think you are heading down the path of killing an engine.

So today I changed out the gear oil in the rear end(in the cone). YouTube helped me with that. I used 75w90 full sen. Mobile one. Trying to take off the oil pump now. Got it un bolted (the two bolts) but doesn't want to come off. Any ideas. Please thank u. And also were is a good place to get fuel lines? Thanks. And I know about leaving the oil tank with the two oil lines still hooked up and I'll plug the two other lines. Thanks again for the help

You have to take the whole manifold off to get the pump off the 580-720s. Most people just block the feeder hose and leave it there.

So it will be ok to leave the pump there. You don't think it will hurt anything? Thanks again. Does anyone know were to get fuel lines chept?

Did you not read my post at all?? If you are going pre-mix... the pump needs to be removed. It will eventually seize up if it's not pumping oil.

Thanks jerk dr.honda. I did read that I just forgot. But thanks again for talking to me like I'm a kid. I'm glad I spent all my money to go to Raken(best college for mechanics) to get a degree in automotive maintenance. Thanks again though. And I'm switching over to pre-mix because I have seen 2 strokes break b/c of the pump going out. Thanks again so much

very good point...but have you seen it happen? All the machines I have parted down have had the oil pump left in there and there were no issues.

Just askin...I would you have seen it.

Dr. Honda is just trying to help you out. You dont need to take his advice but dont throw it back in his face. Its you ski do as you wish. You asked for advice and he gave you what he thought was best.

There were differing opinions...both of which may or may not be correct. You sould never take anything you read on the internet as gospel..read many opinions and formulate your own game plan.

thanks, do you know what kind of fuel lines they recommend? some many different kinds. would just regular black rubber lines be ok? and know I been thinking about not removing the oil pump. lol. but does anyone have the specs on the pump? do you just start the bike and measure the oil its pumping out at idle or is there a different way to check it. thanks again so much. thanks everyone for the help. summer time is o most here got to get the bike ready for the water.

Just change out the lines, adjust it so the tick marks line up, then fire it up and hold the oil pump wide open. If its working it will pump.

I would hardly say Dr. Honda is a "jerk" for trying to help, as stated if you do not agree with someones opinion ignore it, don't act like a 4 y/o. Funny how you have so much knowledge but you didn't even know what size motor your are dealing with nor the knowledge about how your 2-stroke motor works. I have the same ski but mine has a 657 motor not a 787, my boat only runs a 717, this XP doesn't have the 787 unless someone did a conversion, and I doubt your mother-in-law did that.....be nice!!
