needle bearings!

i know there has been threads on here about needle bearing, caged and cageless, but on my 1993 xp(5852) i ordered a new top bearing and it came cageless which i expected, well after dropping the needles(twice) and regathering and installing they are not the right size. last night i took the other piston apart and found a caged bearing. i thought the caged bearing was only on the 1994 xp 657x?? please help i dont know what part no. to use to order another caged

During mid 90s engines had 2 rod sizes, just get the correct needle bearing wherever the piston came from, most suppliers are aware of this - when you recover 34 needles you are done, keep pouring kerosene in and dumping the motor over a 5gallon bucket with a old t-shirt to catch any particles.

thats were it is confusing, because the bearing i had gotten was the 34 needle bearing, but when i removed rear piston i found the one i need is a caged 16 needle bearing?
