I have a manual but it is vague about how to remove the drive shaft. The picture in the manual shows it without the protective boot, I got the clamps off of it and compressed it back to remove the O-ring and don't see the removable O-ring and don't understand exactly how to remove it. Is the removable O-ring underneath the floating ring? and after the ring comes off how does the rest of the shaft come off? the manual goes from removing O-ring to disconnecting coolant hoses and never says now remove driveshaft. I know its asking alot but can someone explain to me how to remove the driveshaft? I would greatly appreciate this.

if you push the metal "floating ring" toward the back of the boat... you will see either a rubber O-ring... or a metal C-clip. remove it... and the driveshaft will slide out the back. (I'm assuming you have the pump off already)

Tips:

1) the floating ring is not easy to get to slide back... but it will. you may want to spray a little penetrating oil between the ring and the drive shaft... but do not oil up the carbon ring.

2) if you find a rubber O-ring... just cut it off. It's much easier to get the drive shaft out by yourself that way. Then, replace it with a metal C-clip when it goes back together.
