Up grade your air before going with a 14/17.

4 inch Air and free flow are sitting in my living room waiting for the ski to come back.. Riva intake grate will go on I also plan on bigger injectors and a drop in wheel for the sc

and maybe a holeshot.. Down the line

Okay...I musta missed your list of mods earlier.

What SC wheel are you going with?

I'm thinking about an et127 wheel...

and a 3mm spacer...right?

I'd go with a 14/19R, then tweek to suit....at least till you go with an exIC.

If your interest is in holeshot...down the road...you'll prolly wanna look at a Skat 3blade.

I'm moving this thread over to the performance forum. Trying to get some traction over there and this thread is appropriate. And I second everything red2blue said...good advice there.

What he said. I'm going with a 14/19 when I do my X charger.

maybe a stupid question.. but what does the 14 stand for... along with the 19?

does skat have a website? after quick google search i think i may be searching for the wrong thing lol

That's the pitch of the impeller. It starts at a 19" pitch and ends at a 14" pitch. Errr other way around....

Pitch refers to the incline of the blade, if you were able to rotate a 19" constant pitch blade one revolution with no drag or slippage, it would move 19". Think of it like driving a screw into wood. Lower pitch allows more bite and higher pitch allows "faster" movement.

awesome description... that made it so easy for me to understand.. thank you !

Isn't an impeller measured in degrees and not inches like a propeller in the quoted example?

"Pitch" Refers to the degree of angle of the impeller blades. A straight pitch impeller blade is angled the same from the front of the hub to the rear. A progressively pitched impeller changes angle from the front to the rear. Meaning that a progressive impeller has a variable pitch. For example, an 8/17 impeller half of the blade would be pitched (bent) at 8 (bottom end performance) and the top end would be pitched (bent) at 17.

A lower number impeller produces more low end RPM, thrust and acceleration which will benefit a heavy rider and/or a low powered stock engine. A higher number pitch angle improves top speed. One thing to note, top end speed is hard to improve upon without losing bottom end torque / thrust.

If you mod the engine where you can get higher RPM's then getting an impeller to increase the top end speed is doable as you can get a progressive impeller that will give you the low end as well as increased top end due to increasing the output of the engine.

Clear as mud ?
