Hi, I have a 1996 Seadoo Challenger boat w/ a single 787 engine and the last two times on the lake the boat ran perfect 7000 rpm for about ten to fifteen minutes then it just shuts down and won't rev over 3500 rpms. Does anyone know the reason or experienced this before? Is it some kind of safety kicking in to protect the engine? Thanks for any help

Just to add the oil light came on but the tank was half full. The boat has run perfect over the past two years

if it's exactly 3500 then that's a magic number. The neutral saftey switch has gone bad.

Thanks I will check that tomorrow was thinking of that, overheating or an oil injection sensor or problem

Pulled the switch not sure how to check it exactly but with the key on and pushing the button on top of the switch I get one beep everytime so I would think it's working
