need help carb gasket

96 GTI- ordered new carb base gasket. they did not fit, too small. ordered new mikuni rebuild kits and base gasket for that carb. AGAIN, did not fit . I am not understanding something here. 38mm BN carbs-38mm gasket...what is my major malfunction?? Do you order 44mm gasket for 38mm carb? (sounds like something the government would design LOL) I am big on doing it right with quality parts, however, I am about to make my own gasket if I cant get this figured out. Already can not have this ski running this week. Was hoping for first start up tomorrow.

Sounds like you need a new parts supplier.

Are you sure you are even getting Genuine Mikuni parts for them?

The 720 and 787 engines use the same carb gasket. It sounds like you might have gotten gaskets for the 580 if they are too small.

I know the rebuild kits are mikuni they are in their packaging. If not, then its the best Chinese knock off I have ever seen. Do you know where I can get a true 720 carb base gasket. I have ordered two from different places and they are not marked other than to say it will fit in the description. Can I make my own or do I need to stick with factory? I don't like the idea of making my own but don't want to keep buying gaskets that don't fit.

If you order form OSD Seadoo you will get the correct gaskets.
I think minnetonka4me at Westside Power Sports has them too and is a great source of new and used parts.

I can measure the correct ones when I get home if it helps.

OSD website is down, at least for me. I try and order and the after signing in I select what I want and it takes me to sign in again. just keeps doing the same thing over and over again. I will see if westside has it

Now I'm more confused then before. Checked my order for the carb base gasket and they were for 38mm gaskets. They sent the correct ones I ordered, 38mm. This is what I found on a parts diagram as original equipment but they are way to small. Could I have larger carbs? Why do you think 38mm gasket is not fitting a 38mm carb? I don't want to call and order the wrong ones again tomorrow.

The correct gaskets for the 720 and 787 measure 44mm ID.

They don’t exactly match the ID of the carbs. Probably so they can use one gasket to cover many models.

You ordered the one for the 580 engines.

I had the same issue. Ordered 720 gasket, wrong one came. They sent another out next day the same.

Cut and punched my own in less time than it would take to call them back a third time.

That's what I almost did but needed to get a fuel selector so I ordered the gaskets at the same time.
