If you have been following my recent posts, you will know I have a bad MPEM on my 06 Sportster. The boat has been sitting at the dealership now for 4 weeks and I am getting a bit frustrated. The latest message I have been getting is they are waiting a new MPEM to arrive at BRP. This has been 10 days now - I checked and Seadoowarehouse.com and I can get me the MPEM in three days. I am wondering if I should just do this myself, but I am a bit apprehensive because I figure I need the B.U.D.S software to do this properly. Is B.U.D.S. really necessary or can I just swap out the MPEM without syncing it to the old MPEM? My shop manual says I need BUDS to sync to the TPS, but maybe I can get away without this. Suggestions?
