I read this forum daily i keep seeing info about the mpem and fuses. So i have a couple of questions.
1. My ski runs great mechanically, the gauges vts and fuel etc dont but it starts and runs good the water. Does a bad mpem or fuse affect the gauges? Plus my beeper has no sound?
2. If i wanted to check the fuses and mpem are they located in the gray box and if so i see there are tabs to open but not any room is there something i can do to get more room.
3. If i found bad fuses and replaced them could i mess up how the ski runs now? I havent seen on the forum what this mpem does or what function it plays on the ski? Just curious.

My ski is 96 spx

1) A bad fuse, can keep your gauges from working. There is a main distribution fuse back in the gray box that you should check. BUT... the gauges could just be bad. The beeper in most of the older skis is going to be dead. Almost all of the skis I've worked on that are older than '99, have had bad buzzers.

2) You should be able to move the gray box from it's mount, and pull it out to work on it.

3) No... a bad fuse shouldn't hurt the way it runs now. If your VTS is busted, disconnect it before changing the fuses.

thanks dr. Honda i will pull the gray box and look inside not to worried about the vts i manually made the adjustment. I would like to get the fuel to register though.

What does the mpem do?
