Motors Locked Up?

Well my two jetskis have been sitting a while, so we decided to pull them out.

They are a 1995 Sea Doo XP and a 1995 Sea Doo HX

We stuck a battery in the XP and hit the start button, the gauges came on , and it gives one click. well we said, maybe the starter solenoid is bad, so we stuck the battery in the HX and the starter engages, but thts it, you can hear it jump, but no spinning. So were assuming the motors are locked up, since there hasnt been any oil pumped in them.
Last night we pulled the plugs and put some 2 cycle oil down in the cylinders.

we can turn the motor with pliers on the XP a little but the hx has a guard.

Has this happened to anyone else, if so, what can we do?

well i called the local sea doo dealer, and he said hes pretty sure that the solenoid is bad.

my motor turns for the most part, not all the way, but i turns a good bit.

the HX's motor is pretty siezed up and the starter engages on it, so i think we are gunna pull the solenoid off the HX to put on the XP so we have one to work with.

Then, once we get the other one un-siezed [ we put WD-40 and 2 cycle oil in it] we'll get another solenoid.

keep the plugs out, and the plugs grounded to the post. Make sure battery is good/charged, then see what happens (XP). If nuth'n, then yeah, switch the relay (solenoid), then try again. If nuth'n, then "jump" the solenoid.

For the HX, remove the grey shield, so you expose the pto, then turn it (with plugs out), if it doesnt budge, the nspray some pb-blaster in there, let it soke for day or 2. Then use pipe wrench on pto, and turn counterclockwise,...rings could be rusted to walls.

thanks timmy.

they stay at my best friends house, so i can t do any wrenching on them except for when i'm there. I may see if i can get them here, so i can see what i can do.

we were suspecting the rings rusted to the walls, so hopefully we'll get it to move.We already took the shield off and it wouldnt budge.I've got anthony WD-40ing them daily.

Another thing though,

the XP wont turn over completly. it turns about halfway around. is that normal for sea-doos? or should you be able to turn them all the way around?
the exhaust is in the way on the XP so i cant see where to put a screwdriver/wire to "jump" the starter.

you wanna jump the "relay". Follow the red cable into a black box, and 1 leav'n it, open it up, and see where they attach to. Jump those 2 post. Sounds like your battery has bad cell. But since in there, check out the ground/red cables for corrosion, breakage..etc.

its a brand new battery, reading 12 volts.

but i'll try jumping it there.

this is the same thing as taking a screwdriver across a car starter right?

well we got the HX turning over.

the XP still is only turning halfway. hopefully tommorrow it'll free up. we got it working a little more and more.

also, the starter's power wire stud was rusty, so i think it had bad connection.

well after cleaning up the starter power wire threads we thought it was bad connection, but evidently not. it still only reading like 3 volts when the start buttons pushed.

i'm still thinking the starter solenoids bad, but no one listens to me :(
i guess i'll buy one and replace it.

how do i get to the little relay?

well, we found out yesterday, that the starters brushes or something must be dirty, because it'll turnover after you tap it a few good times

now, to get my dad to get it apart and cleaned, is another story :ack:
