hi guys
amongs my other projects I also have a 96 GTS(I think it is) with a blown motor
and a GTX I think again with a blown motor.

is it worth rebuilding the motors or cheaper and better buying replacements for them so I can sell them?
as you know skis are expensive in NZ and I Bought a replacement 720 from the States in Feb for NZ$850 delivered
so im just trying to decide whats the best option.

these are the skis im thinking of rebuilding ..
at the end of the day all the $$ from these is allocated for my Jetski Fund(thank you wife)
so the more cash I have the more I can spend.

the older ski has a new motor in it but is it worth rebuilding the old 1 or not?

if not worth rebuilding any of them then who can supply me replacement ones delivered to my door:cool:

I am probably misreading again but you say that the GTS and the GTX have blown motors, but then you mention that the older ski has a new motor.
Another question, the motor you got delivered from the US for NZ$850 ($1050 US) was it a new rebuilt motor or just a used one that was running. If it was a rebuilt one, that is a great price considering the shipping cost.

Either way both skis in the picture look to be in good shape and in my opinion think they are worth saving. I'm not a big fan of the GTS because of the lack of power, but I do have a GTX and love it. I put a rebuild in it last year.

Looks like you have a. 97 GTX 787 there. One of my favorite 3 seat skis made. Handles nice, very stable, and has some decent power for a 3 seat ski. It's still a desirable ski IMO

I agree with Adam, I have a 96 GTX, blown motor, I will be getting a remanufactured engine from SBT sometime in January, I hope. It is a great ski to me, I hope to enjoy riding it for quite sometime to come. Your skis look good, clean and taken care of, so yes, invest in repairs to make the sale better. Now, having said that, I have to say it will also depend on the market where you are. What is the value of a dead pretty ski compared to a pretty ski with a new engine? Can you recover the expense or not? If not then maybe part it out and get a little more than selling a dead ski. You will have to research that and make your on decision.

It depends on what you do with them after the rebuild. The 97GTX is kind of a wash, and I'm speaking about US prices. If you plan on keeping the ski, yes it's worth either rebuilding your motor or installing a rebuilt. If you plan on re-selling then it's probably not worth the time and money.

The GTS is running, right?

BTW you can tell the year of the ski by the last two digits of the HIN (hull identification number).

Thsnx guys.
Ok to clarify
The 1997 GTX needs a new motor. It is a 787 yes but it needs either rebuilding it a replacement used motor.
The GTS iv put the used motor from USA into it but from single to twin carb I seem to be having issues with getting it running. .
