Mixing 2 stroke Oil brands

I'm new to the forum, but have noticed a lot of discussion about Seadoo Oil vs. other brands. One consistant point is to not mix different brands of the API-TC oil. I just bought an '05 GTI, and I'm not sure what oil was used. The oil tank is 1/2 full. How can I easily drain the oil and make sure I don't get air in the oil lines.

Importance?..

In days past, that was really important due to the different additives that were used between makers. But, I've recently read in the world of synthetic oils, it's not exactly super important or necessary.

If you like to change to a full synthetic oil, you might just drain the oil tank, then refil with the synthetics.

The oil I use, "Quicksilver full synthetic" actually states on the back, it's designed to mix with other oils. But, there's a clause with words to the affect that you can mix going up to a higher brand, like a synthetic but not downward into a mineral.

Chester and Dr. Honda both have a lot of experience in this area, maybe they'll have differeing opinons that may give you more options. I guess, if the question is there, you could always change it out.

I used an old shop vac to hook up to my rotary chamber lines. If you drain your rotary and tank, I don't see a reason to drain your oil injection lines. They are primed and will use what oil is there and will have an automatic changeover when that oil reaches the cylinders........

Mixing oil brands

Thanks for the information. I will probably let the oil tank run a little lower when I start ridding in the Spring and then switch to another Amsoil. I get the idea that mixing a small amount of Seadoo oil that is remaining in the tank with new Synthetic of another brand is not going to hurt anything. The Seadoo Synthetic is $49 per gallon, but I can buy Amsoil Interceptor for about $37 through a local distributor. I don't know who sells the quicksilver around here, but Amsoil is quite a bit cheaper than Seadoo, so I will go with that. thankis again

Mixing fully synthetic ams interceptor oil with seadoo synthetic won't hurt. Just don't mix with nonsynthetic.

Currently my ski is running a Penrite 2 stroke oil which i believe to be a semi synthetic. Will this mix OK with seadoo xps II synthetic?? Or should i drain and refill?

There has been a lot of discussion about this switching, one common idea does not get mentioned often - run out what you have then change over while using a tank of premix and marking the tank to be sure the motor is actually drinking, chances are the cost of old oil is worth more than spark plugs if you can not drive them clean after the switch-a-roo....
