millenium edition gtx maintenance and high temp flashing will not run please help

I recently purchased a 2000 model sea doo gtx millenium edition rfi 800. I bought this ski with a blown top end. A dealership had previously removed the engine and it had been sitting since last summer. I rebuilt the top end and and reinstalled the engine now when i put the key on it says hi temp and maintenance this is before the ski has even been started. The ski will start and run for a short time then will beep and shut off with out any message on the display other than maintenance and high temp. I have done all my testing on a hose at the house. we tested the temperature switch with a ohm meter and it appears to be working. i have determined the ski could have been run hot causing the top end to go any help would be greatly appreciated. the nearest dealer is over an hour away.

If the sender is OK... that may be an old code. The dealer may have to clear everything, and see if there are any old codes.

Thanks for the response would this be causing it to stay in limp mode? i havent put it in the water yet but thats what it feels like. It runs good but as soon as you hit the throttle it sounds as if the rpms are limited to 3800-4000. Would this also cause it to shut off after running a few minutes? i have checked and know for sure its not hot. The temperatures on the display are pretty accurate.
