might have sucked up some weeds...Update...it is a small stick

Just got in from the lake and had to limp back due to some cavitation. I did not see anything but suspect weeds after reaching up into the impeller housing after pulling the boat out.

I guess my next step is to un-bolt the grate and see what is up there. Is it ok to work on the boat on the trailer? and are there any special precautions I need to take? If what ever I sucked up is causing cavitation is that an indicator that the wear ring might be messed up?

This is a 2008 challenger 180 with a lowly 5 hours on it any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE...well I crawled under the boat in the daylight and found a little stick about one inches long and a quarter inch in diameter it is stuck on the impeller blade. I attempted to get it off but did not have any luck. I started to un bolt the grate that covers the impeller and noticed that the forward bolt goes into the hull and was coated with caulk. Can it be easily removed and if so is there anything special that needs to be done to get it back in? I think if I can pull the grate off the getting the stick would be easier but I don't want to spring a leak.

Thanks in advance!

It is fine to work on while on the trailer. Just look up under it. It may be something you can reach in and pull out. Could be weeds, sticks, garbage bags, who knows what. IF you find something, pull it out. Then dont worry about pulling the pump off yet. Take it out and see how it runs. If it revs up and doesnt go anywhere, then you need to pull the pump.
