Recently i am having a starting problem with my 94 xp 657 rotax. i have pinpointed the problem to be electrical. i have all elements, spark, compression, fuel. but no start. I have searched for 3 days now on a reliable method of determining whether my stator is bad. It is a 5 wire stator. 1 - BLK
2 - BLK/RD 3 - YL 4 - YL/BLK 5 - WHT. The YL and YL/BLK are the charging coil. The BLK wire is the ground, leaving the BLK/RD and WHT wires to be the ignition coil wires, what i did was hooked up an OHM meter accross them and cranked the motor, resistance fluctuated but was never above .53, now i tried the BLK/RD and BLK wire, which is resistance to ground and cranked the motor, there was no resistance to ground. its seems as though when the motor cranks it grounds out the coil wire, yet i still get spark at the PLUGS. so in summary my test might not be right. what i am looking for is anyones method for testing there 5 wire stator. also my manual has no specs for me. it uses some kind of special tester in the manual that i dont have. so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks
