The mechanic that put the new engine recommended I start using a full synthetic oil like this one..Maxima Super M Synthetic Blend 2 Cycle Oil Watercraft

Whats your guys opinions?

Also I have a half a tank of oil in there already from the previous owner, I didnt want to change the brand and use a different oil, but the mechanic said I should start using synthetic?

I wanted to make sure I kept up my end of the responsibility so he would honor the year warranty...

OK... you've been here long enough to be able to say this......

GEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ !!!!!!!!!

You know our stance on oil. Only burn API-TC oil.

Super M isn't really an injector oil. They do sell an injector version, but they don't have a real certification. Personally, the only oil from Maxima that I think is worth a dam is 927... but that's not for our Seadoo. Not to mention, it's about $40~ $45 /gal. (The injector version is rated at JASO and API-TC, but not certified)

A 720 can run mineral oil just fine... but I also recommend a blend. I personally have been using XPS syth blend. If you buy a case (3 gal) it will be $35/gal or less. AND... you can pour it in on top of either the XPS synthetic or mineral oils.

Ok Dr. Honda

Thanks, you know I listen to you, you have been awesome in helping me with everything else,

So I cancelled my order on the Maxima, and I ordered BRP XP-S 2 Stroke Synthetic Blend from here:

http://www.parkeryamaha.com/brpxp-s2-strokesyntheticblend293600072.aspx

Thanks a million!

Sorry I had to be harsh... but at least I got though to you.

Now... I just wish that would work on my kid :D

Personally, I feel that the XPS synth blend is the best bang for the buck.

No, you werent harsh! thanks, I didnt even know that I had to remove all my old oil with the full synthetic! how sad, this one lets me just add it to my tank...

sorry to hijack a bit...but since on the subject is it ok to mix mineral oil with synthetic...and vice versa....
i have a hard time finding synthetic and if i were ina pinch i was wondering if i could

With riding season fast approaching, members may start looking for the Quicksilver oil for the Seadoo's.

I know, from members online, that some of the Walmarts don't stock the "Synthetic Blend" or the "Full Synthetic" in their stores. One member said the manager told him if he had the UPC code, he could get it ordered and stocked in their store.

I found this oil in the automotive side of Walmart, not the boat (sporting goods) section. Looking at tht automotive oils, you should see gallons for sale that are Evinrude, etc.... If you do not see the Quicksilver brand of low ash, non NMMA oils, you can use one of the UPC codes below to see if you can get the manager to order it for you.

I have used this oil for 4 years now in my 97 model 787cc engine and the results from a low carbon build up on my RAVE valves have sold me on it's oiling properties.

The UPC code for the "Full Synthetic" is.....74506167708 with a part # of 92-85015Q03. The "Synthetic Blend" is.....74506148072 with a part # of 92-858015Q03.

If you are buying a ski, especially the one from the 90's, not sure of what oil the previous owner used, you can drain the tank of oil by removing the bottom hose from the oil tank, put it back on then fill your oil tank with the "full synthetic". You can go from mineral to synth blend or either of these to full synthetic but you can't go from the higher quality oils back to the lower quality oils without a full clean out of the oil injection system.
You can leave the oil in your rotary chamber if you like but if your moving from mineral to synthetic, I'd recommend removing it to get the full protection from this higher quality oil.

Feel free to post here or PM me if you have any questions about your oiling needs.

here u go bud

Great Question!

So you can go to "non-blended non-synthetic regular oil" to "synthetic blend" without removing the old oil.

But you have to drain it if your going from regular non blended to "full synthetic"?

And you definitely cant go backwards, from full synthetic/synthetic blend, to "regular oil - 'non-synthetic/non-synthetic blend'"...

Correct?

Thanks ocod .......I was almost sure but did not want to guess...
So after all this... I drove across town 65miles round trip and I found what I wanted ....xps full synth ....picked up 2 just in case!:hurray:

Just go to walmart.
30 bucks a gallon of quicksilver brand with pink writing
Synthetic blend API TC approved...

I was trying to find case pricing of 4 with no luck.
Pre mix is getting expensive every time.
I wonder what the difference is? I assume idling time to wot has something to do with it??
