Yes at Dock, I live in the Sacramento CA valley which has hundreds of miles of waterway; Delta’s and Slews with all kinds and river shops and eateries. I would not like to think so, but do on the off chance I’m wrong and loose valuable equipment (GPS ect..). I would like to know that at least I stopped the opportunist thief. I know it probably a false sense of protection in today’s economy. But it is what it is. Thank for the response and as always the good information.
I grew up in so cal... and have boated in a lot of places. And during the day... I can't remember of anyone being a thief. Basically, the boaters watch out for each other. And generally... if someone doesn't belong on a dock... they shouldn't even be on that side of the restaurant/bar/store.
If you were tying up overnight, and leaving the boat.... I wouldn't "Tempt Fate" at that point. But during the day... I'd say you are OK.
Regardless.... If you want to make that deck lock... look over the manual I posted, and you will see that the parts are "Boat store" items. And... the instructions have where to cut/drill. But for $20... you can put the little lock in your floor locker, and have a safe spot.
I have lockable storage in my Islandia... but I can tell you that I've never locked them. But then again... I don't leave my wallet, or the wife's purse sitting out in the open.
O By the way the hotter spark plugs (7s) work really good, I burn prefect now (Plug chop). That and the rebuilding of the RAVE Valves and a NEW water pressure regulator (seat was too bad to rebuild) has gotten me to 6800 RPM peak performance all day long (4hours of fun). I also realize that my boat runs it best at 7100-7200 RPM any ideas as to why I top out at 6800?
Your rev limiter is at 7100. 6800 RPM's is the normal spot where an 800 engine will top out at. If your engine is brand new, and has full compression... and your pump/impeller is perfect... then you may see 6900 rpm.
At this point... I wouldn't be chasing any more power, if it's an older engine.
My RAVE values leak and spray a little oil after 4 hours. I think it’s the bellows top tensioner springs (old). I ordered news ones but still looking for way to really tighten (seal) the tops down; Zip ties? 10 cm width not long enough, water regulator bellows top tensioner springs? might be too big. Got any ideas?
You don't want to seal the caps. They are on with a bail for a reason. If they are leaking... it's because of a poor seal at the stem O-ring. (or bottom gasket)
Didn't the 90's Challengers have the engine cover release under one of the front pods like the 2000's Challengers? We just lock the glove box and both front pods and we are good to go. Other than the ski locker of course.
I take it the '97 Challenger has an exposed release?
Yep... it was the newer, and bigger boats that had the release under the "Hood". On his boat... it's just a simple grab-handle type release on the deck lid.
Anyway... here's how I leave my boat, when eating at one of my favorite places in Da'Burgh.
