looking for speakers

Part of my selection process was that I wanted some 10" subs that were from the same brand. I was pretty much limited to the Polk or Kicker and the Kickers came out cheaper. If I found the Polks for a comparable price to what I spent, I would not hesitate to buy them.

JL Audio is the s**. I picked up the summer special with amp with no subwoofer and happy with the sound!

Whoops. 4got bout JL. They are high end too. But if I recall pretty pricey too. But if you dealing with current models. Things usually are. I like to buy year old models cuz you can usualy get a cheeper price and same quality. "You get what you pay for"

I got the marine combo 1 orig 1000 something on sale for 649 . Couldn't be more happy. 2 yr warranty and can hear the speakers over the motors and outside the boat!

The speakers r direct replacement of factory speakers. I am in panama city come on over I will let your ears give a listen.

Mike, You install your bow speakers yourself? I have a 5" round hole saw..this aught to be good!

Craig

good find! those should work great for you. their the same ones i have on my tower.

Craig, that is definitely the easiest way to go. I was told to try a jigsaw, a rotozip, and a few other ways. I had to cut 4 holes for the mid range speakers and 2 for 10" subs. The Sub holes I tried using the jigsaw and the rotozip. both sucked bad. For the smaller holes, I figured I would try a 5" hole saw. It was perfect and very easy. Only took like 5 minutes per hole. Just make sure to use a regular corded drill. I started with a Dewalt 24 volt cordless and killed it halfway through one hole. A regular drill cut through like butter. Much more torque. Good Luck, and be sure to wear a mask and long sleeves. I was pickin the fiberglass outta my skin for days.

I'm the one that told RFoster to use the rotozip and the jigsaw...That's what DarthSpeed told me to use..I just had to take my time and use a fiberglass blade for the jigsaw. I didn't have much trouble with the rotozip and a cutting bit..It worked for me pretty good i thought...

I used a 5" hole saw purchased at Harbor freight for like $10 for the kit. Worked perfectly!

BTW, the four Polk DB651s sound AMAZING!!!!!! Whoever recommended them I THANK YOU!!!
