I can't seem to get that chalky white looking stuff off the gaskets. Is there a way to do this or is it shot and I need a rebuild kit?? Also I can't find anything printed on the carb except for "mukini corp" and the butterfly has "856" stamped on it and the other butterfly has "100" stamped on it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Get yourself a couple rebuild kits and do it right. Check out the sticky at the top of the forum for detailed instructions on how to properly clean them.

When you say "a couple rebuild kits" are you referring to the mikuni oem kit for the 40i as well as other parts? Or do you just mean "a couple" of the same oem kit, since I have twin engines?

I definitely want to do it right, just need to know what the right way is.

Looks like you have a single carb ski, so only one kit. Genuine mikuni only as the aftermarket kits are junk.

About 90% of the time, all I ever do is clean carbs thoroughly and they run like new. Done hundreds like this and as long as all the gaskets, needles and seat, etc. are in good condition, once the jets and all passages are clean it will work perfectly.

Ski-doo, thanks for the reply. Can you tell me how you get your gaskets totally clean from that whitish calcium looking chalky stuff that is outlined on the gasket itself?? I tried soaking them in brake cleaner and it hardly removed anything. I can't seem to get that gasket clean

I would just replace it , all the individual parts are available, I know I keep most of them in stock as well as others here.
