When a 4-tech engine turns off, every valve is in a the closed position. However, the water from either a garden hose and it a tow will film the exhaust then the top of the head. As soon as you crank the engine, the standing water is sucked into the cylinders.

Any issues using a standard battery charger to charge the battery while connected in the boat?

Anything over 2.5 amps can cause harm to the MPEM. From what I have read, getting to the boat batteries is no fun. I recommend installing a remote battery switch that is easy to get to using two quality battery cables and a shut off switch.

This would allow you to turn off the batter and charge it with a regular higher amp charger if you wanted to..
