Hi People,

I'm new to the sport and never used a forum.
I would like to hear from anyone who has a Sea-Doo depth finder. I have a 2014 Limited and the depth finder only works about 30% of the time when I'm going 20 mph or slower. It has never recorded depths deeper than 34 feet. The depth icon on the display has never worked. The dealer has changed the transducer and silicon pad and I got the same results. The dealer thought putting it in the water would activate the icon. It didn't.

Would someone please tell me how well theirs works?? Thanks.

Sorry...can't comment on the reliability of Sea Doo's depth finder.

But I am curious....how accurate do you expect a depth finder to be at speed?

Well from what I've heard about these depth finders (no first hand experience) is that they don't really work past 20-30mph. At that speed if you go from deep to shallow you're screwed anyway.

Thank you for responding. I'm not expecting it to be pinpoint accurate. However, I have two other boats with fish finders/depth and they give a general reading of the depth at speeds above 20 mph. If I pick a spot and go back, its usually within 10 to 20 feet depending on the actual depth. I've also found, if they are registering 10 feet or less, don't take the boat off plane or the prop is likely to hit a rock or something. This is what I'm hoping for with the jet ski.

Ive got a 2004 gsx limited and the depth gauge works fine at any speed. Been doing 40 at 60+ foot depths and its shows it.

Seems to me, the amount of air running under the hull at speed would throw off a thru-hull mounted transducer.

I had a factory one installed on my 2013 GTX at time of sale & it works well up to about 30-35 MPH then starts to loose the bottom. I believe I had it read over 100 feet deep on lake Winni.... in NH

I have a factory installed on my 2013 GTI SE 130. Works great at any speeds. There are spots on the river that I know becomes shallow and when I drive up on it at 55MPH, it reads pretty good. It may not be dead on accurate but it gives a depth reading which is very helpful for me. Also I love the fact that it shows up on the instrument gauge right next to the HR meter constantly and is an option on the big gauge. I've had it since I bought the ski new and 25 hrs later works very well.

I installed a factory depth finder on my 2014 GTI 130SE last weekend. It works intermittenly and only at speeds under 20 to 25 mph. Not really happy with it but it helps keep my passenger from whispering sweet little suggestions in my ear.

They can be a little flaky. Some work better than other for some reason and it seems the 09 and older ones seem to work a little better. In general, they are not nearly as good as the aftermarket ones that the fisherman use that are constantly updating depth in tenths of feet where the seadoo seem to only update feet every couple seconds.
