I am replacing the plastic hinges on my boat hatches. So, not knowing anything about pop rivets, I bought the hinges, rivets, and washers from a Seadoo parts house (not mentioning names, but doesn't matter, all the prices are comparable). I bought double the hinges and rivets than what I needed since I already paid $10 flat fee for shipping, and I may need to swap these out again at a later date.

32 rivets and 32 washers cost me nearly $30.

Anyways, I go to the hardware store to buy the gun, take my rivets with me to get the approx size by comparing them to the ones on the shelf, and I could have purchased 50 rivets for $3 there, and the washers are another $3 for 100 :ack: Same exact rivets. Nothing special about the Seadoo rivets except packaged in Canada.

For future reference, they are just 1/8" aluminum rivets and washers. Go to hardware store and pay less than 10 cents a set rather than .43 each for washers and .32 each for the rivets.

youd be surprised what you find at hardware stores... eAs long as the "main" o-ring gaskets/diaphrams good in carbs, I replace the o-rings around the hsa/lsa adjusters and n/s o-ring, with ones from store...seems that they make better seal. Also, in plumbing section, #10 in faucet o-ring, it fits perfect for drain plug o-ring...I'll think of more..but get the point.

I just assume that this Canadian/Austrian (isnt it Austria?) engineering uses all odd sizes, so I buy from Seadoo parts houses.

But I have found that a good bit of the accessories are able to be found at the hardware store. After the fact...:(

That’s not a surprise to me. Before I get anything from a Seadoo dealer, i try researching a little. Some parts are of the shelf. Example. The blower on my C1800 was bad. Seadoo wants 100 dollars for it. I got mine from Bass Pro (the same blower) for under $30. Same thing with a plastic latch lock for the ski floor compartment. I think Seadoo wants 70 dollars and i got it out of Bass Pro for $20. The Bass Pro one does not have a locking key but what do I care.

I have been looking at west and Bass pro, but there are some parts I am not finding. As for the rivets, I just didn't know if they were a standard size and standard material, which I now know they are.
