On my '97 Challenger 1800, the ladder folds up and there is a rubber strap that hooks over it and into a knob on the bottom step of the ladder

The knob broke off completely... it took a chunk of the underside of the ladder step with it, so i can't reattach it with glue or anything... i dont think it would be stable enough

Am i going to have to replace the entire ladder? Or would I be able to find just the bottom step with the knob attached somewhere?

Thanks guys

The previous owner of my 98 used a drywall screw sticking out about 1/2 inch so there enough room to get the strap over it, was going to replace it but it works.. :)

For part 26, the rubber strap, there should be a cut out section I'm guessing where the nob goes.

When the ladder is in the closed position the previous owner put a screw into the last step, in the center of the plastic section, vertical-from the bottom of the step to the top, but not penetrating the top of the step so you don't get stuck with it. It takes a little more effort because you need to really stretch the strap to make it all the way around the last step to the screw..

Like I said I had planned to replace it, but those ladders are expensive, and it seems to work for now..
