I had a spot welded on my purple exhaust pipe and I just replaced the pipe in my GTX. I am pretty new to working on engines however and used the same gasket that was on there originally. Was this a terrible idea? Was I supposed to apply some kind of sealer on top of the gasket as well? I just slid it on there and bolted it all together. Please help me so I don't fuk anything up when I run it this weekend

If you are talking about the flat gasket between the manifold, and the elbow... then yes... you need a new one. The old one is hard, and it will never seal properly. Since there is a water jacket in it... you need to keep the sealed. Because of the heat... you can't use any sealer on it. (it will just burn out)

Get a new gasket at your local dealer, and put it on, torquing the bolts (nuts) to 18 Lb/ft. If you over tighten them... you will break the bolts after it heats up.

Good luck

I was afraid of that. So basically I'm going to have to take the whole pipe back off which sucks since that O shaped clamp at the bottom of the pipe was a world class bitch to take off and on
