According to the book it suggests that I get it service after 10 hours Break in....

Just after a little after 9 hours on the PWC, the display started showing "maintenace required"....

Is that programmed to show that when you get near your suggested maintenace?
or is there something wrong...

The book states get it serviced as close to 10 hours as possible...(would it hurt if I waited until around 12-13 hours?)

My problem is that if I dropped it off to have them do the 10 hour "Break In" , I might get it back before July 4th weekend.

Would want to use it over the weekend...

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks
Charlie

It shouldn't take the dealership long to do the required maintenance, and you sure don't want to do anything to void your warranty! I'd call the dealership and ask them if they can do this and get it back to you before the holiday weekend.

ps. This is mostly a warranty issue, it's not like the engine will fall apart or blow up if it hits 11 hours without this service. But if you take it in with 15 or 20 hours on it to have the 10 hour service done, they may well void your warranty.....

Same thing happened to my friend. The maintenance message came on around 9 hours. Only way to get it off is have the dealer service them though. My buddy has a pair of 2009 gti's and they hit 10 hours early last year and he called the dealer and they said it was no big deal to wait. he serviced them at the end of the season with like 17 hours and they were fine with that. call your dealer and check with them.

Thanks...For the input....Will Beg the Dealer to get it back before the weekend....Don't want to chance voiding warranty..

Thanks again...

I'm at 7 hours and getting ready to hit the lake for the week. I called my dealer and they said the light may come on but you can wait until at least 15 hours or so. He said it's no big deal and go have some fun. So, that's my plan..

Cool beans Dooser! Sounds like a plan to me. Have a great holiday weekend and be safe on the water!!!

ps. Check your fire extingisher, 2 guys got caught on my local lake while I was out boating Sunday evening... their PWC's were missing the fire extingishers, they got busted and ticketed! It's easy to overlook those things.

Now, of course I have gone over it and checked the oil (had to add some, they said this is normal) and did a good visual inspection. Everything looks good to go. I'll be traveling about 250 miles so I went and got me a spare tire as well. Oh and the fire extinguisher and whistle are in place, thanks for the tip, as they say "you never know"

I have a 2011 git se 155 as well with 3 hours. I was told it is limited 1000 rpm for the first ten hours to help the break in. are you guys doing anything special during break in? im doing full throttle once and a while but only for a few seconds, and varying my speeds as the manual says.

1,000 rpm's? They don't even plane at 1K rpm's. That can't be right.

I think full throttle is probably bad for it till it get's closer to 10 hrs, but 1/2 to 3/4 throttle for short periods of time (like 30 to 45 second runs) with several minutes (a dozen at least!) of below 1/2 throttle cruising should be just fine for break-in period. Bearings, piston rings, gears and stuff will be wearing in during this time and you don't want to stress the engine. I believe the dealer will do an oil change among other things when you take it in for it's 10 hr checkup (the oil get's metal particles, very fine, in it during initial break-in period).

Yeah I'm heading into my required maintenance with an hour left to reach my 10 hour mark. I was quoted $400.00. Thats insane!!! Does anyone know of any places in AZ that doesn't want to rip someone off?
