Ok so I recently (3 weeks ago) took my Islandia in for service at an authorized dealer and was told that the only thing my boat needed was new spark plugs. I thought that was awesome but was a little sceptical since my baby had sat for two boat season (a late fall deployment to iraq followed by a cross country move). So anyways I wasn't very surprised when my overheating warning beep come on (at least I hope that is what is it) and I have lost the ability to go over 30 mph at full throttle. As of right now I'm going to change the oil, air and fuel filters and check all fuses and ensure teh strator is properly filled and that there are not any metal shaving in there. I'm just really dissapointed in the service inspection that I got especially after sheling nearly 300 bones.
Is there anything else I should be looking for or need to check? I have all the parts mentioned on hand I just need the Army to give me some time to do it.

first... thanks for serving.

Second... this is exactly why I hate most shops. It probably did need new plugs... but it needed more since it was sitting.

Does your Islandia have a merc or rortax engines?

Regadless... start with a flush to see if that clears out the cooling obstruction.

1. Thanks for your support

2. I have the Merc OptiMax 250 and I started this whole thing with a flush and of course the warning beep came on during the flush. After some reading I've decided and resourced to take the actions in my rant. All these things should be changed out yearly anyways right?

Well I changed the air filter and drained the water separator. Unfortunately I bought the wrong fuel and oil filter (part number mix up :willy_nilly:). I also filled the strator with fresh gear lube and put some ethonol treatment in the fuel. :boxing_smiley:
When I took the boat out yesterday everything started out fine until I throttled up and then the warng beep started again. I backed off until it stopped (31 mpg 31.5 according to gps), at 32 mph the beep comes back and at 5300 rpms I'm only doing 35mph (beep is still there and constant).
What am I missing? when I first got the boat 55mph was no sweat and now I can't break 40mph and using the knee board or tube is out of the question cuz she aint got the juice any more.
Help!!!!! :banghead:

I'm not sure about the Merc. but my 150 Speedster has a "Limp Home Mode". If the ECM senses a problem with the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor, it will limit the engine speed and give the rider just enough power to get back home.
