Jet Pump Rebuild

So I tore apart my jet pump and discovered that the ring behind the jet pump housing was shredded. The rubber seal is fine but hard plastic ring came in contact with the impeller and got tore up (I had plastic bits shoot out the back of the pump). I also discovered that the previous owner did not maintain the cone and it has been without oil for years. So my question is: If that plastic ring still sits into the wear ring gap nicely and the rubber seal is good, do I need to replace the plastic ring?

I'll post pics in a bit...thanks!

In the pictures are the plastic ring itself, the ring on the back of the wear ring, and both the plastic ring and the rubber seal

Figured it out...that ring you see is the minimal remains of my wear ring....The lack of oil caused expansion and movement in my impeller housing and completely dominated my wear ring. Previous symptoms: lacking low end power/ take off, loud rotating noise from impeller. My new wear ring just showed up at my door and I should have her out on the lake today. I'll post my results!
