I changed the jet pump oil today for the first time. Happily the oil had no water in it but was very black. Upon reinstall i did do a pressure test and held 15 lbs indefinitely. Of course as expected the oil kept settling and required a top off to the point that it was full.
My permatex ptfe thread sealant i used on the plug threads says to make sure threads are dry but i am sure there is some residual oil in the threads from the multiple top offs to get the cap full. Wasnt sure how to clean the threads without contaminating the new oil.
How do you guys normally tackle this step and should i expect my sealant to cure even with the possibility of some oil or do i need to re do it?
