Hi all,

I joined the forum because I am looking for used or remanned Rotax, Yamaha or Merc engines to use in a 20ft Aluminum jet boat.

A Chevy 350 is 950pounds. A Hamilton 212 is 650 pounds. So, 1500# and together they provide about 300HP. This is the standard for guys in OR, WA, and ID.

I am looking for a better power to weight ratios.

I have used single Merc Sportjet 175 and 200's in the past, and they push my 20ft hull around 45mph. I was hoping to make significant improvement on that.

I have been considering a TWIN engine boat using 1.1 or 1.8l Yamahas, 1503 Rotax or anything you might recommend that would increase HP, retain low end torque, and provide lower weights.

Ideally an AR230, AR210 or Scarab or similar with bad, wrecked or salvage hulls or interiors, but still good motors, controls and trailer as a donot.

Also hoping to gain knowledge about hull designs from TWIN owners.

Thx. I look forward to learning.

J
