I found that one of the rave valve pistons had the thread that secures it to the blade damaged. I have a 99 Challenger 1800 with the 787 engines.
I ordered a new one PN 290854445 but when I went ahead to install it I found that the part I was sent has a small rib inside the groove were the bellow attaches. This makes for a poor fit of the bellow in the groove. Is this the way it is supposed to be or are the new bellows different in that they have a groove were this rib fits into it?
I did notice oil leaking through this joint and I am having top end RPM issues with this engine so I wonder if this rave is staying closed due to leaking and I need to either get new bellows or file down this rib to make it work with my existing bellows.
Last question is how tight to make the piston on the rave blade stem. There is no spec and I am concerned about making them too tight and damaging the plastic threads. I have noticed that a couple of the pistons were loose on the stems when I checked them.
Thanks,
Chris
