Is this oil filter properly installed?

Hi there, just changed the oil filter. First time doing this...

I can’t tell if I’m supposed to see the o ring after I’ve fully tightened the filter lid. Appreciate your help! (See pics below)

Did you apply engine oil on filter ring, filter cover o-rings, and on the oil filter screw o-ring, before installing, the cover should mate with the oil filter housing, should not see o-ring.

Oil filter screw torque. 9N.m (80lbf*in).

As above, lid should be all the way down and touch the top of the housing with no o-ring visible. Try rocking and turning the lid until it seats. It's a tight fit.
 
Will likely buy a torque wrench and really grease up the oil filter mating surface and the o rings. Should help.
 
As said above, Chester pretty much school's all of us here you can trust what he says.
 
Was at the lake today and checked the oil filter and the red o-ring is visible, even after torquing to 80lbf*in so I stand corrected. Sorry about the misinformation.
