Is it ok to just disconnect the ground cable and charge the battery in the ski?

I still have one walmart battery :puke: in a ski and those things are such a pain to connect. I dread pulling them in and out. The length of the bolt minus the thickness of the cable connector leaves about 1/64" of bolt to try to thread into the little floating threaded tab. :banghead::banghead::banghead: Anybody figure out the secret to doing this easily?

You don't have to disconnect it to charge the battery. Just don't try to start it with the charger hooked to it. But... if it makes you feel better... removing the ground is fine.

wow, I usually disconnect both wires when im charging my battery?

BIGJAKE, go to a bolt supply place and have them thread a perm thread into the bottom float nut..once you have one threaded perm, get a wing nut which will save you all the trouble trying each year threading your bolt into the bottom float nut..have this done for NEG/POS threads on each battery....works like a charm.easy to take or add your cables each time you need charge or take out

Awesome! Would that be a place like Fastenal?
thanks.

any place that deals with bolts/nuts wouls would have a bolt to thread..bring your floating nut in and thay can thread it and ask them for a wing nut...make sure bolt is long enough to get your cables on and the wing nut will thread.

I get what you are saying, I've just never heard of a "perm thread" bolt. Are you saying use some loctite or is this a special kind of bolt?
