I guess I should have put this in the "modifications" section. The single engine Challenger comes with two gauges in the hood (speedo & tach) with the fuel gauge in behind the steering wheel. That big blank space in between the two gauges always made me feel like I was missing an option.
So, moved and rewired the fuel gauge up top, drilled a 2" hole & moved the tach to the center, and then installed a volt gauge behind the steering wheel. I'm a bit of a gauge nut. If I could, I'd mount an oil pressure gauge in the cluster too... :D

Now I get it. Found a picture of an original dash in this thread
I like your layout better.

If your not committed to the volt meter, maybe a round depth finder unless you already have one.

I wanted the volt gauge so if I'm out and about and the charging system gives up I'll have some time to get back to the dock. I'm not too concerned about depths. I'm familiar with the waters in which I travel... :)

That is such a GREAT IDEA!! I totally understand where you are coming from, totally need the voltmeter for the battery, probably the thing that got me in the most trouble was my battery!! believe that!

wow.. GREAT idea and somewhat of a necessity... where can i get a charging system/voltmeter guage and how would it be wired to give the most accurate reading.. appreciate it! thanks for idea!

You can find tons of them on ebay for under $15. OR just about any auto parts store. The nice thing is they can be tapped onto any 12 volt source. They arent drawing any power really, just ready what is already there.

thanks again!

Here is a pic of what i used. The top gauge on the left. It matched the factory gauges very close. It is made by Faze. You can find it on ebay for $12.78 with free shipping. Item 360417518885
