So I removed the Jet Drive to do some maint. and possibly replace the wear ring while I was in there. But, in my opinion (and I'd rather hear your opinion) the wear ring doesn't look bad at all. There are some very minor scratches, but the clearance is well below the .040" spec. all around. Would you replace it?

The impeller looks smooth and clean except for a few nicks on the leading edge. Can these nicks be cleaned up with a file and some emery cloth, or is this something that should be taken to a pro for some sort of re-conditioning?

Thanks in advance...

whilst I had my boat out this past month, I noticed port side doesn't have the same jump ( in terms of throttle up and go, takes longer) as the starboard side. Mechanic says could be wear ring as air and water splash around until enough water gets flowing through impellar to "prime" it catch up to other side. Make sense?
I want to trust the mechanic, he makes sense on alot of things but and has proven himself, but I'm always checking. Thank god for this forum!

Also, he said my rave valve has a small crack which allows water to spray into motor housing during operation. To replace part its $300.00. I told him I would check online first, so I'm checking.... what do you guys think?

Pull the rave out and look at yourself. You'll probably need a new gasket. Check it out and see if it is cracked. If so then buy a newer model with grooves in it. PM Minnetonka4me or 99spxxx for parts. Even with shipping it should be under $100 if you need a new one.

Post back on what you find.

Seadoobuddy: Please refer people to start their own thread, and keep this one on track, with what the original poster asked. (not being harsh, just want to keep things on track)

Bifitis: The impeller and ring look fine. Just hit the leading edge with a file, and you will be fine. If you are experiencing some cavitation, I would say it's coming from an air leak around the carbon seal.
