Impeller Help

New to the PWC world, would really appreciate any knowledge on this. I recently acquired a 95' GTX with the 657X. It's in pretty good shape a blast to ride, but I believe I'm having an issue with water cavitation. Again, I'm new to this, but I hear the water sounds change when the RPM get up, sounds like it's foaming. I back off just a hair and the sounds clears and you can feel it pulling harder. I can do this from launch or when I'm up to speed. I also have no launch if I do a 180, I have to let it settle a little, then it'll go. Last note, I can see what looks like way too much light passing through when looking through from the back on the jet.

My issue; I cannot find a replacement impeller for the 95 GTX, 92/93 yes.
My question; Besides the difference in pitch (I think OEM is 15/21), will most impellers from the same era (say 92-96) fit? I really can't see that many different "spline" and/or depth of impeller options, I would think mostly pitch.

Welcome.
You can't go by impeller pitch as there is no standard scale. So each brand is going to be different. Like a 15/21 Seadoo OEM is notgo ing to be the same a a Solas 15/21.
What I can tell you is that Seadoo was really good at selecting impellers so if yours has no or very little visible damage it is good.
What typically happens is the wear-ring goes bad and it is what keeps the impeller to pump clearance in tollarnace. It is a sacrificial part to avoid impeller and pump damage.

If you feel like the "clutch is slipping" like a car as in the rpm goes up bet the ski doesn't go faster it is typically a wear ring. They can be replaced and I prefer OEM.

Post some pictures up into the pump so we can see the impeller and wear ring.

Thanks mikidymac
I haven't opened it up yet, planning on it this weekend, I'm hoping to limp it through this summer and not spend too much until winter, when I can really dial it in. As you stated, it is like a slipping clutch, at the same time it sounds like it's making more foam than movement. If I'm lucky, the impeller will be good, and I can get away with a rebuild and wear ring (if I'm there, why not new bearings). Although, if it is just the wear ring, that is not pricey like the impeller, may do that to get the better ride this summer.

If the impeller is shot, beside pitch, how limited on impellers am I? Like I was saying, when I look up sites with impellers, for models around 95', they carry most but the GTX, so I figure it's got to be a mistake.

Like this below, the GTS and SPI both go to 96', why not the GTX?

Bearings don’t typically go bad unless water gets in. You will see the oil milky and the oil is a service item.

Impros can refurbish your impeller.

You don’t want to keep riding it with cavitation as it can overheat your engine.

I sucked up some vegetation right before loading, so I have some cleaning to do, but I got some good pictures after unwrapping the majority of the mess. Does the impeller look ok, or should I have it serviced?

I will take a file to the leading edge, it's rolled a little, so I want to sharpen it without taking too much (balance). I don't see too much damage on the outer edges, so It may only require a wear ring. Of course I may not truly know until I get a new ring, and see what tolerance I have.

In y'alls opinion, should I just start with the wear ring only (outisde of find more once apart)?
