Impeller Boot Ring

On my 98 GTX Limited. The metal ring on my impeller boot has slipped off and is sitting on the shaft, it creates a loud rattling noise. Can I just slip this ring back on to the boot and not worry about it, or is it a sign of possible problems?

Try it. I cannot see it doing anything worse than coming back off. If it does, you may want to replace it or see if you can secure it better.
