Well Im lost. I am not getting any fuel to the carb. I ahve takin the carb off and 2 times pulled it apart again and everything seems to be in order. Checked and then did it again. Still no fuel to the carb. Pulled fuel through the line to the carb still nothing. I am lost. Dont know what to do. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Rudy

First of all, you need to tell us what ski you have, preferably in your profile so it shows up everytime you post.

Make sure your fuel selector is not turned off.

As for the carb, make sure you recheck that all fuel lines are routed properly and that your pulse line is attached. I will assume you assembled the carb correctly, checked that your low and high speed screws were set according to specs, and made sure your internal rubber parts/diaphrams were in good shape and/or rebuilt with new parts. The filters should have been cleaned/replaced inside the carbs as well.

Also, check your fuel/water separator bowl for a good seal. There is an O-ring on it that needs checked. If you are sucking air in here you will have fuel delivery issues.

That should get you started, but you may have to tear apart the whole fuel system and clean out to solve your problem. This would include replace all the fuel lines, especially if you have the stock gray fuel lines on the older skis.

Sorry bout that. Its a 94 spi. Fuel system in already done and replaced/routed acording the digram i have. One of the first things I did after I cleaned out the tank. I will give the fuel/water separator another check but that is a brand new O ring. All the diaphrams are new and assembled correctly. I will pull the carb off again and check the fuel/water sep again.
thank

Well, before you pull your carb once again, you may just need to prime the line or did you say you did this already? When I did mine, I left the air intake off and placed a plastic bag over the carbs. This will cause an increase in suction in the fuel lines and pull gas through quickly. Once you hear the engine "hit" like it is going to start, your gas lines are filled up.. Replace air intake and try to start.

Well just tryed it and it felt like it wanted to for a sec but nothing. I really dont want to take this thing to a mech but I might have to.

Well, just so you are clear, you will have to put your air intake back on before it will actually run. With it removed, there is too much air flow to fuel mixture and it will not run.

The air intake has been on. I am worried that it is something small that I missed and have to take the hole thing apart again. Back to step one i guess

Pull the plugs and put a small amount of fuel/oil mix into the cylinders. Replace the plugs and start it.

Make sure youe selector valve is on.

when u replaced the water/fuel separator oring was it with the squared oring and not a rounded one?ive been told the rounded ones dont work but im not sure.

Since when? My ski's will run without the airbox on them. Heck one of them someone used a hole saw and drilled a bunch of holes in it. The mod pretty much bypassed the airbox.

Well, you can adjust the carb to run without the airbox, but it has been my experience that with stock settings they don't run without the airbox on.

As for bypassing the airbox, that is a very bad idea IMO. The airbox has a flame arrestor and if you backfire through the carb, you could ignite any built up gas fumes in the hull and potentially blow your ski up.

True, In fact I think that is how I found this place. I was looking for a source for a new airbox and this forum came up in my search.

Southernboy, What I did to test out my XP's the first time is just run it on a bottle. Super simple and will tell you if the problem is on the carb side of things or the fuel tank/ selector or lines.
Simply pull off the main fuel line to the carb and attach a 3 or 4' piece of fuel line. Pull the fuel return line off the carb and hook a 4' fuel line to it. Fill a suitable container like a plastic bottle with fuel and insert both lines into the bottle making sure the fuel inlet line is submersed in fuel. Crank that girl over and if the pulse pump is working on the carb you will see it instantly drop the level in the bottle and then see the return line pump some back in.
Very simple and will get you on the right track I think. If it goes ahead and fires for you just make sure those lines are in the bottle because that little pulse pump will move alot of fuel thru the carb and back thru the return at an idle.
Hope this helps you with your troubleshooting.

It looks like a lot of things going on in that area.Cables/oil pump. Just not too sure. Didnt want to have to dig that far in to get the carbs off but if it is the way it is done then i guess i must. Just wish I knew a little more on the procedure
